Well, I went deer hunting... I had a great time visiting the Schoepke Clan!! I finally got to see Bill and Stacy's home and hang out with Ol' Shep and Joyce. Even tho I did not get a deer and pretty much froze my ass, except for Smitty and the Brickhouse and the "buddy" I would have probably perished. (I should have went crafting!) Can't believe I left the Good Luck Monkey in my truck. It's amazing that I made it back to Minnesota , when you think about it. Smitty bought a new truck, Toyota 4runner, pretty loaded. Ass Warmers!! Pretty gay, I thought untill I spent 11 hours in a tripod stand waiting for a herd of deer to appear. Those Ass Warmer Seats gained respect from Spike in a hurry!! Next truck will definately have those if I am still in Bemidji. I was thinking of Mooresville NC as I could possible locate if I was interested in doing so, and I have been in one place for more than 2.5 years so the time may be right for me to breeze. But Stacy and Nipper are doing a stellar job of convincing me to stay. Since all I do now is work and sleep, I could probably make it through the winter. I really only need to go outside for about 4 minutes a day unless I count cold truck minutes as outside minutes. Then I time out at about 30 minutes a day. Right now in suburban Bemidji it's a balmy 30 degrees with freezing drizzle and unbelievably slick driving conditions. Only the body shop guys are happy tonight, and Viking Fans.
Right now I'm watching the Gray Cup, featureing the Edmonton Eskimo's vs. the Montreal Alouettes(Damn Frenchies) I hope the Moe's kick their Ass. The Moes are up 3 t 1. What's pretty cool is, if the punting team, punts into the endzone, and the receiving team does not run it out, the punting team gets 1 point! Also Pamela Anderson was the Grey Cup Grand Marshall of the Pre Game Parade. (no make up and a conservative sweater) But with the folks ya know, she's just a small town girl after all!! I do have to say that the game is more fun to watch than the Eagles/Packers Game (awful)
I hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving. I'm fixin to get me some shut eye. So's I'll leave y'all for the time bein' (practicing)

DK, The Gang, Super Dog and The Good Luck Monkey!

Wednesday, November 16, 2005

Wow, That last post was just a little bit dramatic! So this one will be upbeat and filled with......who the heck knows where these fingers will lead me. First, I made it back home from the years last waterfowl hunt in North Dakota, this years hunt were successful as limits were shot all around, however we had to hunt hard and spent many more hours afield. Much more that previous years. A few highlights, Jumping and sitting on a secluded pothole watching the sun ebb in the western sky, as ducks spiralled down around us. The evening sky alight with flames from our barrels, OK mostly Wayne the "Duckling Killers" barrel. (no watch) A wonderful morning on Island Lake, in the Water Bitch. The G & H Super Mag Bills in string formation, and watch as flight after flight of bills, buff's, mallards, mergies and goldeneyes, metriculate into our waiting shot strings. So close, that I now believe that ducks do have facial expressions. Magnificent!!! Other noteable highlights, The Halloween Costume Party at the Wagon Wheel in Rollette. Ask any who were there, it was a hell of a night. Lap dances by "Tweety Bird" thank god it was a girl.(later revealed) right smitty? Ms. Saskachawan, the cheerleader(voted most popular 3 years running) and of course the bunnies. The cast of Gilligan's Island and lots of adult beverages. One hunter in the group was unable to make the opening bell the next morning. One wished he didn't. Here is a note to myself, stop at the 6th or 7th Tequela shooter and do not mix Windsor, Beer and Jag and Tequela. EVER AGAIN!! or at least untill next year!!!!!!
Sad thing was that I shot alot better this trip.
I leave Thursday for the big city and then Friday morning to Wausau, WI to see Bill and Stacy and attempt to put a 165 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip into a large Wisconsin Whitetail. This is the first time in a while that I have been in the stand. Actually, all I really want, is to see a deer while I have the Remdog 700 in hand. It's sighted in real good, so I really have no excuse except Buck Fever or lack of Quality. By the way the wind is howling outside the snow has stopped after depositing 2-3" of white powder the wind chill is hovering around -20 and I will be up in a tree dressed as the "Great Pumpkin". I most certainly am NUTS!! I have never claimed to be a great Deer Hunter, but remember I am called "Lucky" for good reason. I hope you all have a Great Thanksgiving!

It has been determined that Spike is to have one more shot at some Mallards, as a trip has been booked to Reelfoot Lake in Tenn., with Black Jack Pocket Hunt Club. The end of the first week of January. "Yeah Baby!"
